Safeguarding Officer Role Applications Now Open
Published 11:11 on 14 Aug 2026
Weymouth Sailing Club is seeking a new Safeguarding Officer (Club Welfare Officer) to join our team and help ensure the club remains a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for children, young people and adults at risk.
We would like to thank Rodger Trim for his dedicated service in this role and for the positive impact he has made on safeguarding within the club.
The Safeguarding Officer acts as the clubs point of contact for safeguarding matters, helping ensure WSC remains a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for children, young people and adults at risk. The role includes keeping our safeguarding policies up to date, promoting best practice, supporting safe recruitment, and receiving any safeguarding concerns raised by members, volunteers, parents or children. Training and guidance are provided through the RYA, and an enhanced DBS check is required.
The RYA also recommends that the Safeguarding Officer is not closely involved in delivering youth training and is not related to our younger members.
