Annual Prize Giving 2026
The annual prize giving, celebrating the 112th sailing season, was held at Oliveto located in the old pier bandstand on Weymouth's Esplanade on Saturday the 14th March 2026. Ninety three members packed into the beautifully decorated function/dining room to enjoy an evening of friendship, dining, laughs, stories and, of course, the presentation of trophies. Final Winter Walk
Sundays walk started from the Springhead pub in Sutton Poyntz and was led by Penny and Mike Fenwick accompanied by 14 WSC and WRC members. The walk was about 5.5 miles and we enjoyed stunning though misty views and a trip round the Chalbury Hill bronze age fort. So that completes this Winter Walks programme. From Weymouth to the World: WSC burgee is taken through the Panama Canal
Weymouth Sailing Club colours have officially gone global. On 2526 January 2026, WSC member Jerry Thompson and his jointly owned Jeanneau 53, Blu completed a full transit of the Panama Canala landmark passage for any sailor and, very possibly, a first for both a WSC member and a WSC-sailed boat. In Praise of Syndication
I had a share of a boat in Greece until recently, and have syndicated my own little racing boat for two or three years now. I first came upon the idea in the late 70s, when a friend shared a boat in Lymington with three friends.
